World of Warcraft hits 11 Million!

Vivendi hints at WotLK release date
I just stumbled across an official press release from Vivendi, the company that acquired Blizzard Entertainment last year, which has some information about the release date of the next World of Warcraft expansion.
Very good operating achievements were offset by non recurring or calendar impacts: the first quarter of 2007 included notably the successful launch of the first expansion set World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade (the second expansion set is anticipated to be released in the second half of 2008) and the favorable settlement of a tax litigation.
As an avid fan of WoW, I am pleased to see some sort of official statement on this, despite how vague it is. My personal suspicion is that it will be released in October or November of 2008, just in time for the Holidays.

Wrath of the Lich King release date?
So for those of you who don’t know me, I’m pretty much a raging WoW (World of Warcraft) addict. I’ve been offline for the past few months because I’ve been grinding RL (real life) instead. However, I still pine for my favorite game ever, and watch from a distance to see what is going on. So anyway, I recently received an e-mail from GameSpot with the following “most popular games” chart in it. I was surprised to see that they were showing a release date of 11/03/08 for Wrath of the Lich King! So far, Blizzard has not announced an official release date for the second expansion of this phenomenally popular MMORPG, but I can’t help but hope that this was an inadvertent slip by the GS folks. It’s probably just wishful thinking, but it’s fun to speculate.
